✅8.6. Compliance with Industry Regulations

Objective:
Ensure that the PCB assembly complies with local and international regulations and industry standards for quality and safety.

Key Requirements:

  • RoHS Compliance: Ensure that the assembly complies with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standards, which limit the use of certain hazardous materials (e.g., lead, mercury, cadmium, and others) in electronic products.

  • UL Certification: For safety-critical applications, ensure that the PCB assembly meets UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards for safety.

  • REACH Compliance: Ensure that the assembly complies with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) regulations concerning chemicals and materials used.

  • CE Marking: If required, ensure that the product complies with CE marking standards, which signify that the product meets European safety and environmental requirements.

Standards:

  • IPC-1752: Material Declaration Standard for compliance with environmental laws.

  • J-STD-001: Ensures compliance with assembly quality standards.

  • RoHS 2 Directive: Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
